Charles Paternina is a seasoned real estate professional, former investment and private banker, and dedicated community leader with a career spanning over four decades across finance, real estate, and public service.

 

Charles is a seasoned real estate broker with a global reach, specializing in buying, selling, and renting properties worldwide. He has been a full-time broker since 2002 and founded Charles Paternina Properties in Greenwich, CT in 2009, where he has built a boutique firm specializing in high-end residential real estate with a global reach. His expertise was honed at Sally O’Brien & Associates (2002-2009), and he has contributed to the industry as a Board Member of the Connecticut NAR (2016-2021).

 

Before transitioning to real estate, Charles had a distinguished investment and private banking career. As Senior Private Banker and Private Client Group Head at JP Morgan (1996-2001), he managed relationships with 60 top private clients in Argentina and Chile, overseeing $1.2 billion in assets. Prior to that, he led Mexico Corporate Finance Origination at S.G. Warburg (now UBS Group) in New York (1994-1996) and, from London, he established the firm’s investment banking presence in Spain (1987-1993). His financial career began at Banco de Bilbao (BBVA) in London (1984-1987), handling corporate banking relationships.

 

Academically, Charles holds degrees in Law and Business from Complutense University of Madrid, is a member of the Madrid Bar, and has continued his education with the Advanced Management Program at IESE Business School (2013). He is a Marriage and Family Therapy Graduate from Fairfield University (2022), completing internships in behavioral health services.

 

Beyond his professional career, Charles is trilingual (Spanish-English-French) and holds U.S., British, and Spanish nationality. His commitment to service includes being a Greenwich Volunteer Firefighter (2001-2006), a Trustee of Brunswick School (2005-2011), and a long-time volunteer at Neighbor to Neighbor and Catholic Charities. He is married to Ana, and together they have five children and, so far, ten grandchildren.
